I’ve designed this spool holder as an enhancement to the one that ships with the Prusa Mini. My version is larger and features a more stable stand. By incorporating larger ball bearings, the rim of the spool runs smoothly and is held deeper within the spool holder, preventing issues that often arise with nearly empty spools.
The design leverages readily available components:
- 4 ball bearings 10×30×9, even inexpensive free-running ones will work.
- 4 m3x20 screws, likely available in your Prusa spare parts kit.
- 4 m3 nuts, also likely available in your Prusa spare parts kit.
The initial print generates all the necessary parts, and the holder functions quite well on a flat surface even without additional components. However, a second print adds two rails that enhance the overall stability of the spool holder.
