I designed an extensive set of round-corner templates for woodworking, which can be used to mark corners with a pencil or as a guide with a flush-trim bit. These templates accommodate a wide array of radius sizes from 5mm all the way up to 200mm, and from 0.5" to 8," each one carefully crafted for optimal use.
About the Design
The templates were conceptualized from scratch, specifically to leverage 3D printing technology. The design capitalizes on the unique capabilities of this manufacturing method, ensuring strength and precision.
These templates are 12mm (or 0.5") in height, providing ample surface area for a flush-trim bit. Robust ribs reinforce the templates, providing stability for precise cuts. There are numerous slots and holes for securing the template with woodscrews, all designed for 3mm or 3.5mm flat head screws.
Additionally, a hexagonal hole on the side accommodates extensions that align with a 6mm dowel or bolt. Snap-in guides can be attached to these holes to align the templates without screws.
The Centre Mark
Larger templates feature a centre mark, including a cross and line markings extending to the radius endpoints. This design aids in verifying the correct dimensions and positioning of the template.
Dimensions and Sizes
The templates cater to a full spectrum of metric corner sizes. For those accustomed to the US system, an alternate set is available in imperial measurements, maintaining 4mm and 6mm diameters for screw and extension holes.
These corner templates are essential tools for any woodworking enthusiast looking to add a professional rounded touch to their creations.
