I designed a small disposal box available in various diameters and container heights. The lid is ingeniously crafted with a print-in-place hinge and is secured onto the container without the need for supports, making it simple yet efficient. I suggest using PETG or PLA for printing.
Update 2022-02-10: Due to a glitch in Fusion360, the lid models for diameters 100 and 120 had some imperfections. I’ve uploaded updated versions “LR2212B-L…” that address these issues.
Update 2022-05-05: I’ve added lid models with tolerances T65-T80 to provide more fitting flexibility.
Dimensions
Lids
The lids follow this naming format: LR2212-L<diameter>-T<tolerance index>
where the diameter is measured in millimetres.
Container
The containers are named as follows: LR2212-C<diameter>-<height>-T<tolerance index>
with diameter and height also in millimetres.
Tolerance Index
The tolerance index ranges from 00 to 99, with 50 as the standard neutral fit. Lower numbers indicate a tighter fit, and higher numbers offer a looser fit. For most printers, T50 should be ideal. If the hinge is problematic, opt for a higher index like T55, and adjust the container fit as needed with a tighter version.
To test the fit, you can print a top 10mm section of the container, or stop printing once the hinges are complete.
This design offers a practical and customizable solution, catering to various requirements with detailed attention to model variations for the best fit.
