This is my design of a simple but beautiful hook to hang clothes or bags to a clothes rail. I designed it to be unobtrusive and functional.
Update 2022-09-27: Added D18 for Ikea furniture. Added visual catalog. Added labels to the model images.
Dimensions
The part number and file name have the following format:
LR2260-W<hook width>-D<rail diameter>.3mf
Hook Width and Height
Dimension W
defines the width and also height of the hook. The number after the letter in the filename is the dimension in mm. The height depends on the width and is calculated by multiplying the width by 1.5.
Clothes Rail Diameter
Dimension D
defines the nominal diameter of the clothes rail. The number after the letter in the filename is the width in mm. The hook works with round rails, but also with rounded rectangle rails. For the latter, the maximum height is twice the diameter. The hook will not slide on the rail easily if the height is larger.
Visual Model Catalog
In the PDF LR2260-Catalog
is a visual overview of all model files.
About the Design
With this design, I used a simple profile with well-defined chamfers to produce a shape that looks great and is easily printable. Also, the hook is perfectly symmetrical, so it does not matter which end hangs on the rail.
With the simple filled shape of the profile, the print works with a wide range of nozzle sizes and layer heights.
PLA is not Ideal for Heavy Weights
PLA is not an ideal material. If stressed with heavy weights, the material will slowly but permanently deform over time. So, if you print these hooks with PLA, use them only for light weights.
Maximum Weights
The example print “LR2260-W12-D15”, printed with PETG, will easily hold a bag with 3kg or more. The maximum weight depends on the chosen hook width and material.
