I present to you an elegant stand add-on for the lantern LR2268. I designed this stand with a hollow stem to transform the lantern into a beautiful LED-based lamp.
The project focuses solely on the components required to integrate the stand into an existing lantern structure. For this setup, you must first print the lantern itself along with a closed top cover:
When crafting your lantern, you can skip part LR2268-22, replacing it with a version featuring a pole adapter.
I would like to highlight a few updates:
- Update 2023-01-28: Introduced variant LR2268-45B with extensions on the foot part of the stand, along with lids LR2268-48A and LR2268-48B for closing the hollow space in the foot.
Dimensions
The full height of the lantern paired with this stand reaches 336mm. With the modular nature of the lantern project, you can customize the stand’s height by mixing and matching parts LR2268-41 and LR2268-42.
Stand Adapter
In place of the standard part LR2268-22, part LR2268-22-B comes with a modular stand adapter, allowing for an extensible setup. The adapter, consistently designed and dimensionally uniform across parts, ensures seamless assembly. The design includes three grooves atop each part for attaching an LED and a diffuser.
Locking Mechanism
This stand design features a versatile locking mechanism, permitting the easy swapping of the stand’s components or the entire stand unit. By repeating parts LR2268-41 and/or LR2268-42, users can elongate the stand as desired.
The Foot
For optimal stability, the stand’s foot is constructed from a greater amount of material, providing additional weight. The hollow stem, with a narrow diameter of 9.8mm, is designed to discreetly house a cable, ideally for an LED light setup. Accommodating wires with up to 4mm in diameter, the foot part includes a discrete cutout. An optional decorative lid is available in two variations to either leave access open for extensions or to match the foot’s outline for a finished look.
Ideas, Variations, Notes
- Create varying-height lamps using combinations of parts LR2268-41 and LR2268-42.
- For a more seamless design, parts LR2268-46 and LR2268-47 can be omitted.
- The stand adapter LR2268-22-B can attach the lamp to a wooden post or pipe, requiring only a 16mm drilled hole.
- The modular design encourages experimentation with multiple color combinations, all while maintaining the lantern’s crisp, linear aesthetics.
