I’ve just released the first beta version of a brand-new Flower Pot Builder, a tool made specifically for creating clean, functional 3D-printable flower pots.
This new tool is still under active development, but it’s already functional and available to try out!
Why Build Another Tool?
You might be wondering: why create yet another flower pot builder when so many already exist?
After exploring a few of the available options, I ran into some recurring issues:
- Many tools are locked behind user accounts or even paywalls.
- Some are cluttered with intrusive ads and distracting interfaces.
- Others produce models with poor mesh quality or limited customizability.
So I decided to build my own, not to solve every problem, but to focus on the ones that matter most to me:
- No ads and no login or registration required
- Functional prints with adjustable mesh quality
- A modern, intuitive interface that runs 100% locally in your browser
Additionally, I wanted to support more than just round pots. While round shapes are easy to generate, I felt there was room for a modular system that could also handle different geometries, decorations, and future features with ease.
If you’re already familiar with the Function Playground, my vase generator built around a flexible function grid, you might ask why this flower pot builder isn’t just another mode of that tool.
The reason is simple: the Function Playground is all about experimenting with artistic shapes, mostly intended for vase mode printing. That artistic freedom doesn’t translate well into practical, sturdy containers.
The new Flower Pot Builder is different. It focuses on simple, stylish, and functional pots. The goal is practicality: clean geometry, defined measurements, and export-ready STL files designed for standard printing.
And just like the Function Playground, it runs entirely in your browser, with zero friction to get started. No account. No download. Just set your parameters, preview, and download the final model in seconds.
Key Features
Customizable Dimensions Define height, wall thickness, bottom thickness, top and bottom corner radii, and side lengths with full control.
Multiple Shapes Supports not just round pots, but also triangular, rectangular, and polygonal bases with up to 10 sides.
Side Decorations Add up to 10 custom decorative bands wrapping around the pot—exactly where you want them.
Overhang Control Define a max overhang angle to ensure models can be printed cleanly without supports.
Live Profile Preview Watch your changes update the profile in real-time, helping you quickly fine-tune the design.
3D Preview Generate a full 3D model at any time to inspect the pot before exporting.
STL Export Download a binary STL file of your pot, ready for slicing and printing.
